Automatic headlights

from $145.00

This add-on does what Porsche should have done from the factory.

What it does is very simple: When it gets dark, the headlights turn on. When it is bright outside they turn off.

Cars supported: 997.1, 997.2, 987.1, 987.2

The installation is plug & play:
I am using Porsche OEM connectors, so it’s literally a snap. Here’s what you have to do (please also look at the detailed instructions in the “
Documentation” section of this site):

  • Unplug your light switch from the factory harness

  • Plug this device between the light switch and the harness

  • Route and “hide” the light sensor

The heart of the box is an Arduino micro-controller, which uses a light sensor to measure the ambient light ~25 times / second and then follows several algorithms to determine when to turn the lights on and off.

The operation is as simple as that:

Setting the light switch to HOME, enables the auto-light function, that’s it.

For cars that have front foglights (all 997.1 & 987.1 and some 987.2), I am offering two options for my device:
- no DRL option
- added DRL (Daytime Running Lights) option, this has the same functionality as “no DRL” with the added features below:

  • DRL option” is an add-on option for my device, not a factory option. It means, that the owner can have the front foglights and/or the side markers (aka parking lights) automatically turn on with the ignition.
AGAIN: This is for cars that do NOT have Daytime Running Lights from the factory.

  • For this feature to be enabled, the light switch must be set to “HOME”.

  • Please refer to the last 3 pages of the installation manual (in the “Documentation” section of this site) on how to configure these options to your liking. The device ships by default with “front foglights on”.

IMPORTANT:After you selected the “variant”, please make sure that the lightswitch in the picture matches the lightswitch in your car.

Please note that the ring with label “AUTO” is NOT included.

You can find the installation manual either in the Documentation section of this site or by clicking here
